The Turkish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry has obtained funding from the European Union for a project that aims to identify and register all live sheep and goats in Turkey.

All sheep and goats across the country will be tagged as part of the project and information on health checks and transportation will be recorded.

It will take two years and an estimated EUR 34 million to complete the exercise, which will involve an estimated herd size of 25 million head of sheep, lambs, goats and kids.
