JBS to open six more plants in Brazil

19/11/2012
Brazilian packer and tanning group JBS has announced that it will open six packer plants across Brazil, increasing its slaughter capacity by around 15%.

The announcement came when JBS released details of its results for the third quarter of 2012. At all its plants across the globe, the group slaughtered just over 4 million head of cattle during the quarter. The total was down by 0.7% on the second quarter of this year, but up by 6% on the third quarter of 2011.

New plants will open in the coming months at Rolim de Moura in Rondônia, at Nova Andradina in Mato Grosso do Sul, at Pontes and Vila Rica in Mato Grosso, at Senador Canedo in Goiás and at Castelo dos Sonhos in Pará.

JBS said at the time of the announcement that it anticipated these new facilities would add 1.2 million head of cattle to its slaughter capacity for 2013, about 15% of its total slaughter in Brazil at the moment.
