Luxury goods group Labelux has sold US fashion label Derek Lam back to its two founders as part of a strategic shift that will see it focus efforts on leathergoods and shoes.

The investment vehicle, which owns footwear company Jimmy Choo and accessories brand Zagliani, sold its majority shares to designer Derek Lam and his business partner, Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, for an undisclosed sum.

Reinhard Mieck, chief executive of Labelux, said: “We have taken a strategic decision to refocus our activity on luxury leathergoods and shoes and to concentrate our efforts on providing these core businesses with the investment, expertise and platforms.”

Mr Lam commented: “We would like to thank Labelux for its support and strategic guidance over the last four years, allowing the company to develop and affirm its position as a leading fashion brand in the global luxury market.”
