Italy: tanners among 100 greenest companies

14/11/2012
Three tanners and five other businesses with links to the tanning sector have been named in Italy’s top 100 green companies for 2012.

A report entitled Green Italy 2012 names the country’s 100 most green companies. The report is the work of research organisation Fondazione Symbola and employers’ group Unioncamere, supported by the ministries of the environment and economic development.

The report places importance on investments companies have made to reduce their consumption of resources and to reduce waste, their use of renewable resources and their efforts to make the smallest possible impact on the environment.

Tanners on the list are Montebello and Gruppo Dani (a finalist for Europe in the third Tannery of the Year programme) from Arzignano, and Incas from Santa Croce sull’Arno. Others with links to leather are research and waste management firms: Sicit, Consorzio Sgs, Ecoespanso, Cuoidepur and Conciaricerca.
