The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) elected Steve Isaf as its new chairman at a strategic planning conference in Indianapolis in early November.

Mr Isaf is president and founder of Interra International, an Atlanta-based food trading company. He founded Interra International in 2000, but his history with USMEF goes back nearly two further decades.

He said on taking up the role: “The US meat industry is very successful around the world, but just like every other industry, if you rest on your laurels, you will wake up one day and be behind. So, we’re going to work on the alignment of the organisation internally. We’re going to ask a lot of questions about why we’re doing the things we’re doing and how can we structure ourselves better to meet the interests of all the stakeholders.”
