Brazil: 15 packers await export licences for China
08/11/2012
Esequiel Liuson, who held the diplomatic post until earlier this year, has told Brazilian media that there is no technical reason for the hold-up and that all 15 companies meet all the requirements for a share in the Chinese beef market. He said: “There is no technical reason for the delay. It’s just that there is a process in China, a long one, for giving licences to new exporters.”
In 2010, only three Brazilian packers were allowed to export beef to China. The total now is eight.
Mr Liuson said China was also interested in importing live dairy cattle from Brazil.
