More records for BMW despite “challenging market”

06/11/2012
The BMW Group has confirmed that automotive brands at the higher end are enjoying continuing success, even if some brands lower down the prestige ladder are experiencing tougher times.

Sales volume, revenues and earnings for the third quarter of 2012 have all reached new highs for BMW. Revenues during the three-month period from July to September rose by 13.7% to EUR 18.8 billion. Net profit for the period came in 16% higher than in the same quarter in 2011 at almost EUR 1.3 billion.

The total number of vehicles delivered to customers under the group’s BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands during the third quarter increased by 9% to 434,963 units.

All of these figures represent record totals for a third quarter for BMW.

In the first nine months of 2012, the group has delivered
1,335,502 new vehicles to customers.

We have had a good third quarter, setting new sales volume, revenues and earnings records in the face of a challenging market environment. We expect further sales volume growth for the fourth quarter, even though it is clear that we, and indeed the sector as a whole, are likely to be confronted with adverse business conditions,” said group chairman, Norbert Reithofer.
