Chrysler reports best October sales since 2007

Sales at US carmaker Chrysler Group soared in October, rising 10% year on year and representing the best October sales since 2007.$0$0The company, which owns the Chrysler, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brands, has reported year-over-year gains for 31 consecutive months – goods news for suppliers to the automotive leather industry.$0$0Reid Bigland, CEO of Dodge and head of US sales, said: "We demonstrated our disciplined approach to sales growth by posting a Q3 2012 operating profit of $706 million, an increase of 46% over Q3 2011."$0$0Fiat's 89% increase against October last year was the largest sales gain in the group.$0$0Jeep Grand Cherokee sales were up 8%, sales of the Dodge Charger muscle car increased 36% and the Chrysler 300 flagship sedan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan each posted sales gains greater than 30%.$0$0
