Chinese footwear company Jierda Shoes has reported a 200% increase in its exports of women’s shoes this year.

The company shifted its export focus from the EU to the US, which its foreign trade manager, Jiang Lina, said was the correct strategy to fuel growth, with Europe hard hit by the economic downturn.

It also diversified its women's offering, launching a range using nanotechnology, and established a research team

The China Leather Industry Association quoted Ms Jiang as saying Solanum, Pacific Brands Asia and Steve Madden footwear brands recently approached the company with a view to purchasing its shoes.

Jierda Shoes is located in Yiwu, and mainly sells men’s and women’s leather shoes.
