There were winners in 15 product categories. Stanley won the Casual Dining category for a collection called Artisan, designed by Richard Schroeder, Denis Kissane and Gary Hokanson. The judges commented that the use of woven leather in the seat covers was “an unexpected component” in “a pleasing mixture of materials”.
In Motion Upholstery, American Leather took the prize for Brayden, designed by Tom Garland and Paul Zaidman. Comments from the panel for this award were: “American Leather takes a modern approach to classical recliner design with Brayden. The clean, contemporary styling provides a graceful silhouette. We admire the ergonomic adjustability of the frame and take notice of the patented mechanism.”
Furniture with Leather Upholstery is a category in its own right and the award on this occasion went to Century for its Meridien Series, designed by David Vanderbloemen. “The Meridien leather series by Century Furniture offers a blend of elegance and masculinity,“ the judges said. “The handsome curved back detail of the seat is nicely paired with the shaped arm. We also like the decorative saddle-stitching detail.”
Awards chairman and ASFD vice-president, John Conrad, said in advance of the event: “The Pinnacle Awards both honour and recognise creative, relevant and original designs in home furnishings that push our industry to the next level.”
