Longchamp to "grab opportunities" in China

The CEO of luxury leathergoods company Longchamp said it is eyeing double digit growth in China next year as it opened its second megastore in Hong Kong.

Jean Cassegrain said it hopes to open another 40 to 50 stores in China, but did not give a time frame.

“It’s great timing for us to grab the opportunities in China as some of our competitors may shy away from expanding when the economy slows down,” he told local reporters. “We believe China will continue to grow fast.”

The French company, which currently has eight branches in China, saw a 70% increase in sales in the country last year. It had total global sales of EUR 390 million last year.
