Chinese brand outsources leather apparel manufacture to Europe

Reports from China say a clothing brand from Haining in Zhejiang Province, Kaiyang, has become the first domestic brand in the country’s fashion industry to outsource the manufacture of leather garments.

In this case, the company contracted Turkish manufacturer Modashow to make more than 1,000 pieces of high-end leather clothing under the Kaiyang brand. The garments reached Haining from Turkey on October 15.

According to the reports, Kaiyang has set up outsource manufacturing agreements with a total of seven leather garment producers in Europe, some in Turkey and others in Italy. Kaiyang has said the European garments are more expensive, but also more profitable.
