Conseil National du Cuir aims to woo young people into the industry

The French Leather Council (le Conseil National du Cuir) will continue its efforts to attract young people into the leather industry next month when it takes part once again in the Aventure des Me´tiers careers show from 22-25 November 2012 at Paris, Porte de Versailles.

In association with CTC (The French Professional Development Committee for Leather, Footwear, Leather Goods) it will present the leather industry as one of the jewels of the French economy, representing 8,000 businesses, 80,000 jobs and a turnover of EUR 15 billion euros.

Students and teachers from four Paris-based schools of craftsmanship will be present at the show to demonstrate skills and techniques to youngsters about to embark on their working lives.

The schools involved are les Ateliers Gre´goire (formerly e´cole Gre´goire Ferrandi), which offers qualifications in leathergoods production and a professional baccalaureate in the leather trades; Lyce´e d’Alembert, which runs a professional baccalaureate in the leather trades, specialising in footwear and offers qualifications in podiatry and shoemaking; Lyce´e Turquetil, which runs a professional baccalaureate in the leather trades,
specialising in footwear and the CFA Campus des Me´tiers in Bobigny, which also offers a qualification in shoemaking.
