LVMH chief executive to be knighted

08/10/2012
The chief executive of French luxury group LVMH is set to be knighted in London for his contributions to the British luxury industry.

Bernard Arnault is a French national who recently said he wanted to apply to have dual French-Belgian nationality owing to the large number of business interests he has in Belgium. It caused controversy as it was a day before French President Francois Hollande unveiled a 75% tax for top earners in the 2013 budget.

The title - Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - recognises Mr Arnault’s contributions to the luxury industry in Britain, where LVMH employs 3,000 people.

A date for the ceremony has not been announced.
