In the presence of 100 customers from all around the world, Huub van Beijeren, the chief executive of Stahl Holdings, opened the chemical company’s new global centre of excellence for performance leathers in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, in September.

After investing more than EUR 1 million in the new facility, Stahl said it underlined the company’s conviction that there is a healthy future for the performance leather industry.

The project included a complete overhaul of the existing laboratory facilities and the installation of new state-of-the-art equipment, which will enable Stahl to simulate the wet-end and finishing departments of its customers in the tanning industry. The company has said this will give its technicians the space and opportunity to develop new technologies, train customers in the laboratory and work with them on special tailor-made projects.

In his speech, Huub van Beijeren underlined the responsibility that Stahl has accepted over many years towards reducing the environmental impact of ethical topics related to the leather industry.
