Tannery owner apologises for 'lost' hides

The owner of a US tannery that went into administration this summer has apologised to clients who might have lost their hides due to its financial difficulties.

Local paper The Pioneer Press reported that the Uber Tanning Company, which was based in Owatanna, had been tanning big game and making clothing and accessories for more than a century when it was bought by Jared Rinerson in 2006.

However, it “ran out of money” and Mr Rinerson faced several of the 700 hunters who had hides at the tannery at a federal courthouse in Minneapolis.

The hides might be finished or returned as part of a larger deal between lenders and other tannery operations to resurrect Uber, it was reported.

Mr
Rinerson apologised and said: “My heart is broken by this. I never intended to do it.”
