July beef exports from US the highest of 2012 so far

Beef exports from the US increased by 16% in July compared to the previous month.

US packers shipped almost 109,000 tonnes of beef to overseas customers in the course of July 2012, the highest volume for any month of this year so far.

In terms of value, July beef exports brought in $513.5 million in earnings. This represents a slight increase on the figure for July 2011, but a rise of 11% on the figure for June 2012.
