German leather research institute FILK held a symposium on collagen in Freiberg at the start of September.

A diversified programme covered a wide range of aspects associated with collagen research, including talks on sourcing, extraction and preparation of collagenous raw materials for industrial use and processing to products, as well as lectures on the analytics of what FILK called “this complex biomaterial”.

Representatives of universities and businesses (including several tanners) from a variety of European countries took part.
