US-based Alexander Wang showed leather dresses, shorts and skirts with cut-out panels sewn together with fine threads, in a look he called “leather blocking”.
Jason Wu, a Taiwanese-Canadian designer, mixed leather with lace and accessorised his collection with spike-adorned heels and leather bags.
Max Azria's label BCBG showed dresses featuring leather harnesses, skirts and cuffs contrasting with sheer panels.
Derek Lam's models took to the catwalk wearing black lambskin halter tops and solid-colour leather dresses and skirts.
"You can wear leather all year long," stylist June Ambrose told The Associated Press. "The jackets are sleek enough to go under a parka or a vest and buttery enough for spring."
