Minerva says the Brazilian cattle market is changing

22/08/2012
Brazilian packer firm Minerva has said it plans to prepare almost 2.2 million head of cattle for slaughter in its feedlots this year, an increase of 4% on the total for 2011.

At a recent press conference, the company’s head of market research, Fabiano Tito Rosa, said: “The market is changing again. Prices for cattle in the future are going to be higher while the price of feed is cooling down.”

He also said more cattle in Brazil would pass through feedlots in future because of the difficulty in securing extra land for pasture.
