Sharp decline in Chinese leather garment exports in H1

China’s exports of leather garments fell in the first half of 2012 by 28.9% in volume and by 23.4% in value compared to the figures for the first six months of 2011.

Between January and June 2012, Chinese leather garment manufacturers exported slightly fewer than 4.1 million pieces with a total value of $210 million.

Imports into China of leather garments grew over the same period, by 31.5% in volume, to 122,000 pieces, and by 51.5% in value to $64.1 million.
