Explosion at Chinese tannery

The China Leather Industry Association has reported that an explosion occurred at a tannery in Zhejiang Province in eastern China on August 7.

Reports said the explosion occurred at the tannery, in the city of Wenzhou, during the afternoon after a fire broke out near the main boiler. This caused significant damage to the building and 23 workers were reported to have been buried in the rubble. By evening, the authorities had managed to release six people, whose condition was said to be critical.
