Ethiopia exports $7.8 million more leather
Ethiopia exported leather and leathergoods worth $112.1
million during the last financial year, according to the country’s Leather
Industry Development Institute.
This was an increase of $7.8 million compared with the
previous year.
According to the institute, finished leather accounted
for approximately $51.5 million of this total.
The main export destinations for the sector were China,
Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, Thailand and the US.
However, the leather sector fell short of its target
earnings for the period, earning just 54.4% of target revenue.
