GLT files new lawsuit against Fownes
GLT Technovations (GLT) has filed defamation
counterclaims against Fownes Brothers & Co and against Thomas Gluckman, the
company’s president.
The defamation claims were filed as part of a pending
action in the US District Court in Manhattan, which involves GLT's claims that
Fownes misappropriated confidential information and violated a non-disclosure
agreement regarding its TouchTec technology.
In February, GLT filed suit against Fownes, formerly a
customer and still under a written non-disclosure agreement with GLT, in
connection with Fownes' alleged efforts to make, use, sell or offer for sale
touchscreen-enabled leather gloves in the US market using an offshore leather
supplier that is not TouchTec leather. Fownes previously purchased TouchTec
leather from GLT's licensee, Broleco Worldwide.
TouchTec leather, first introduced in September 2009,
enables customers to interface with capacitive touchscreen devices such as the
Apple iPhone, iPad and Google Android mobile devices without removing their
gloves.
