Italian leather delegation visits Tunisia
Tunisia’s industry minister Mohamed Chakhari welcomed a
delegation from the Italian Technical Centre of Leather Industries (CESECA) on
July 19.
The visiting group included CESECA director Giovanni
Cordoni and Aldo Chelini, who has been producing footwear for his Dana Shoes
brand in Mnihla for the last two years.
Mr Chelini urged the Tunisian minister to assist small
leather firms in keeping their businesses running by providing ongoing training
and introducing quality certification standards with the help of the country’s National
Centre of Leather and Footwear. He said that this was essential if Tunisia wanted
to produce premium footwear and leathergoods rather than just mid-priced items.
