Ethiopia exports more leather in June
Ethiopian leather exports totalled $11.7 million in June,
according to the Ethiopian Leather Technology Development Institute. This
figure was up $4 million compared with May exports.
For the 11-month period to the end of June, the country’s leather
exports totalled $101 million compared with around £104 million for the
12-month period to June 2011.
Prime exports for the sector were wet blue and crust leather
as well as finished goods such as bags, shoes and gloves. Exports were shipped
to other African countries, Asia and Europe, as well as a small proportion to
North America.
