New leather engraving machine at Eastern Laser

17/07/2012

China-based Eastern Laser has unveiled a new laser engraving machine that can be used to engrave leather shoes, bags and other leathergoods.

The ETC-2516 can be used to draw lines or patterns on the surface of the leather, or to drill holes. The leather can be engraved so that the base colour is visible without causing yellowing on the surface of the lines or blackening at the incision of the dermis.

Different speed settings allow leathergoods manufacturers to use different leather thicknesses. For small items, the advisable speed is around 0.8 metres per minute, while for larger goods, customers can introduce speeds of between 1.5 and 3 metres.

The machine can also be used to add information such as barcodes, production dates and serial numbers to confirm authenticity and prevent counterfeiting.
