Record first half for BMW Group

Automotive group BMW has achieved record sales for the first half of the year, with a total of 900,539 vehicles delivered worldwide, an increase of 8.1% over the same period last year.

Luxury brand Rolls-Royce reported sales of 1,600 motor cars worldwide in the first six months, compared to 1,592 in the first half of 2011. The group said Rolls-Royce is looking forward to another record year in 2012, with production of the new Phantom Series II starting in September and delivery to worldwide markets following shortly after.

Sales of cars in the BMW series amounted to 747,064 in the six-month period, an increase of 8.3%.
