Qatari investors continue their push into luxury leathergoods

Italian luxury brands Missoni and Valentino have gone into Qatari ownership, following a EUR 700 million bid from the Qatar royal family.

Qatar Luxury Group, owned by the government-run Qatar Foundation, last year took over French luxury leathergoods manufacturer Le Tanneur & Cie. This year it set up a dedicated manufacturing operation close to the brand’s previous base in Corrèze in south-central France and is preparing to launch a new Qatari brand of French-made luxury leathergoods.

Initial reports said the new Qatari owners of Missoni and Valentino aimed to turn them into a “global luxury goods powerhouse”.
