Leather lends a hand to the economy in Murcia

10/07/2012
Spain’s economy is struggling, but one of its most important leather-producing regions, Murcia, registered a 5.5% increase in industrial output for the month of May 2012 compared to the same month last year, while the national figure was a 5.4% decline.

Energy contributed most to Murcia’s overall output growth, but its leather and footwear producers (the region has nine major tanneries) registered growth of 16%.
