Two new leather plants to open in Tanzania
Tanzanian MP Gaudence Cassian Kayombo has announced that
two new leather tanning and sunflower oil refinery plants are to be established
in Mbinga District, Ruvuma Region.
According to Mr Kayombo, who is vice chairman of the
parliamentary standing committee for industry and trade, the joint-purpose facilities
will provide much-needed employment for young people in the area. “Discussion
on training the youth is well underway,” he said.
According to local news reports, the two factories will
cost around $28 million to set up, and Mr Kayombo claims machinery will be
locally sourced, where possible.
