President of the Nigerian Senate, David Mark, has officially opened a new leathergoods development in Otukpo town in Benue State.

The opening coincided with the graduation of 30 trainees at the Nigerian Export Promotion Council’s (NEPC’s) skills acquisition centre.

The new centre is the brainchild of the NEPC, the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

According to Mr Mark, the aim is to produce high-quality leather shoes, bags and belts, and to provide employment for young people in the local area.
