Chinese leather sector output valued at more than $60 billion for first five months

According to the China Leather Industry Association, the output of large and medium-sized tanners across China and other leather sector manufacturers in the first five months of this year had a value of $61.8 billion.

This figure represents growth of 15.3% compared to the first five months of 2011, but the growth rate of the value of what the industry produces has slowed by more than 11.5%.

Leather is the seventh most valuable sector across all of light industry in China.
