Tannery of the Year for the Americas wins LWG gold

Brazilian tannery, Coming Indústria e Comércio de Couros, which won the accolade of Tannery of the Year for the Americas in the second programme of the competition in 2011, has now announced its success in securing gold status in a recent audit by the Leather Working Group (LWG).

LWG is a multi-stakeholder group that assesses the environmental performance of tanneries and awards gold, silver and bronze status to those achieving the best results.

The most recent audit at Coming’s tannery, near Trindade in the state of Goiás, took place on June 13 and 14 and resulted in its first gold award. Coming said the result would give customers greater assurances on quality and on its environmental management.
