India: growth for leather sector exports

India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE), has reported a growth in export revenues for the industry of 26.7% in the first 11 months of last financial year, which covers April 2011 to February 2012.

Export revenues exceeded $4.5 billion during the 11-month period, compared to around $3.6 billion in the same period the previous year.

Germany was the biggest export market, with a share of 15.3% over the period, followed by the UK with 11.2%, Italy with 10.9%, the US with  8.9%, Hong Kong with 7.2% and France with 6.3%.
