19/06/2012

The Southern African Clothing & Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU) has settled its third round of wage negotiations for the leathergoods sector.

The settlement was negotiated on behalf of the National Bargaining Council for the Leather Industry (NBCLI).

A 7.5% wage increase has been approved with the Association of South African Manufacturers of Luggage, Handbags and General Goods.

The wage increase comes into effect nationally on July 1 and is effective for one year.

It will affect 83 factories in the sector, which collectively employ approximately 2,000 workers.
