MAPA and Embrapa predict rise in Brazilian meat production
A study carried out by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) suggests that the country will increase meat production by 10.9 million tonnes over the next ten years.
Chicken is expected to have the highest rate of growth in production, with an annual growth projection of 4.2% per cent. This was followed by beef, with growth estimated at 2.1% per year and pork with a 2% growth rate.
The increase projected for meat consumption in the next 10
years is 2.7%, with domestic chicken consumption expected to rise by 12.8
million tonnes and beef consumption set to rise by 9.4 million tonnes.
