OIE confirms foot and mouth in Taiwan

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has confirmed an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Taiwan.

So far the disease has affected only pigs; 900 pigs on a farm in Wandan Township near the city of Pingtung in the south of the country are suspected of being infected and 15 cases have been confirmed. So far none of the pigs has been slaughtered but the authorities have imposed a quarantine on the farm affected.
