May sales up 11% at Tandy Leather
Tandy Leather Factory has reported that May sales totalled $5.5 million, up 11% compared with May 2011 sales of $5 million. Year-to-date sales are also up 11% at $29.5 million compared with $26.6 million last year.
Retail Leathercraft's sales rose 18% to $3.2 million compared with May 2011 sales of $2.7 million. Year-to-date sales totalled $16.9 million, a 15% increase over sales of $14.7 million for the same period of 2011.
Wholesale Leathercraft posted sales of $2 million for May, down 2% compared with May 2011 sales of $2.1 million. For the year to date, Wholesale Leathercraft sales are $11.3 million compared with $11.1 million in 2011, a 2% rise.
International Leathercraft reported May sales of $298,000, up 67% compared with May 2011 sales of $178,000. For the year to date, International Leathercraft sales were $1.3 million compared with $834,000 in 2011, up 50%.
Chief executive officer and president, Jon Thompson,
commented, "We are more than halfway through the second quarter and sales
remain solid. Even better, we have been achieving the sales results
without significant promotional pricing, which helps to protect gross profit
margins."
