India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has announced plans to set up a leathergoods design studio with the help of various Italian organisations as well as

India’s National Institute of Design (NID) and the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI).

A delegation comprising representatives from CLE, NID and FDDI will visits Italy in June to discuss plans in more detail.

"We have already had a meeting with the joint secretary of the Commerce Ministry of India and now a delegation is going to Italy to meet up with the government officials there,” said CLE regional director (north), Sanjay Kumar.

"We are proposing to set up the design studio at one of the NID centres in India," he added.
