CICB to host leather sustainability forum in Novo Hamburgo
08/05/2012
CICB said its aim was to have a day of discussion and dialogue on trends and innovations that have made a positive impact on the tanning industry, reducing its impact on the environment in an economically viable way.
Specifically, there will be sessions on traceability of raw materials, water management, new methods for reducing chrome solids in waste, environmental policies, legislation, new technologies for increasing production efficiency in tanneries and the impact of sustainability on the fashion industry.
CICB has also released the details of the new logo it has commissioned to mark 55 years of promoting the leather sector in Brazil. The logo uses the colours of the country’s flag, green and blue, on the traditional hide symbol, but a wide strip of blue running through the centre seems also to symbolise the Amazon River and, by extension, environmental good practice.
