India is also the 7th largest exporter of finished leather and 9th largest exporter of leather footwear to the world.
Similarly, India is the 3rd largest exporter of leather garments and saddlery and the 5th largest exporter of leathergoods and accessories to the world.
As per estimates, global import of leather and leathergoods increased from $119.6 billion in 2006 to $138 billion in 2010, which reveals an increase in the global demand for leather and leather products.
Hence, the CLE suggests that there is scope to further enhance India's export in the coming years.
