Leather chemicals manufacturer Clariant has said functionality, productivity and environment-focused products and systems will be central to its presence at the 22nd Shoes & Leather Guangzhou exhibition (May 30-June 1, 2012).

Tanning process EasyWhite Tan will be one of the elements of the product range on display for tanners, finishers, designers and brand owners to see at the Guangzhou exhibition. This is technology that Clariant developed using its Granofin Easy F-90 Liquid, an organic compound that is not based on chrome, phenols or aldehydes. It removes the need to add salt during the tanning process as well as reducing the number of stages in the tanning process itself, the company says.

Another important product on display in Guangzhou will the new high-gloss aqueous patent topcoat Aqualen Top APT, which the manufacturer describes as a breakthrough in water-based finishing systems as a replacement for solvent-based topcoats.

A highlight from the wet end range will be the new waterproofing agent Dermaphob WA-71, specially developed for high-performance water-repellent shoe uppers. The product is highly effective, even with very low application levels, Clariant says.

Chinese industry partners will also be able to view some of the latest leather fashions from Italy and beyond in a collection Clariant will have on show, the Moments of Trends Leather collection. The collection covers the colours, looks and feels from the latest trendsetting ideas. Part of the display will be the latest Global Color Card and Fashion Up! booklets. These highlight fashion and colour trend predictions for leather for spring-summer 2013 and are developed in close co-operation with Clariant’s regular trend partners, MODEUROP and the Fashion Pool at Das Schuhinstitut.
