Renzo Costa, a retailer based in Peru with a specialism in leather apparel and leathergoods has said that it intends to double its presence in Chile this year and to end 2012 with six own-brand stores in the neighbouring country.

A new store will open in the Costanera Center shopping mall in Santiago on May 28, with the investment having cost Renzo Costa $700,000. Company president, Marina Bustamante, has told local media that she plans to open two further stores in the Chilean capital in the second half of 2012.

“Our aim is to consolidate our presence in Chile,” she said, “and to progress from there to other markets such as Ecuador and Colombia through franchises,” she said.

At the same time, Ms Bustamante said Renzo Costa would continue to grow in Peru, opening four new outlets in its home market this year to finish 2012 with 38 stores there, followed by eight more in 2013.

Renzo Costa describes its strategy as producing and bringing to market a wide range of fashion products with a link to leather. Its current ranges include jackets, trousers, skirts, dresses, bags and small leathergoods. It says it hopes to contribute to the development of Peru’s economy by building a leadership position in the markets it chooses to go into, promoting the quality not only of its products, but also of its people, processes and levels of service.
