CICB celebrates 55 years

Brazilian Tanners' Association (CICB) is celebrating 55 years of promoting the leather sector in Brazil. To mark the anniversary the organisation has designed a new commemorative logo.

CICB president, Fernando Bello, said the idea was to mark the length of time over which the organisation has been active and celebrate its achievements in helping Brazil become one of the most important producers of leather in the world, employing around 50,000 emplyees, providing a value to the economy of more than $3 billion, and achieving more than $2 billion in exports in 2011.

“The tanning industry is one of the biggest drivers of the Brazilian economy,” he said. “Since its beginnings, CICB has worked to represent the interests of all Brazilian tanneries, regardless of their size and of where in Brazil they are located, defending and promoting Brazilian leather in the domestic and international market.”
