19/04/2012
The president of the US Hide Skin and Leather Association (USHLA), John Reddington, is part of the group, as is David Seaver of Brazilian-owned JBS North America and David Peters of Twin City Hides. A representative of the US embassy in Brazil, João Faustino Silva, travelled with them.
Meetings with a range of industry bodies, including with the president of the Brazilian tanning industry association CICB, José Fernando Bello, with the head of tanning at JBS, Roberto Motta, and with the president of the Brazilian Association of Meat Industry Exporters (Abiec), Antonio Camardelli, were all part of the programme, as was a series of visits to tanneries in the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.
CICB president, José Fernando Bello, said he thought the visit from industry representatives in the US indicated that the leather industry in Brazil is held in high regard in the international marketplace.
