Europe’s first privately owned high-speed rail operator, Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV) has confirmed that its trains will come into service in Italy on April 28.

New trains from French manufacturer Alstom will run at regular speeds of 300 kilometres per hour linking 12 stations in nine cities, from Turin and Venice in the north to Naples and Salerno in the south. There will be three classes of travel: club, prima and smart, but seating in all three will have leather upholstery.

There will also be free wireless internet and a cinema coach.
