IULTCS president says production and trade are not enough

The new president of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS), Dr Volkan Candar, has spoken in an interview with media in his home country, Turkey, about the importance of research and development, innovation and standards.

Dr Candar, who took over as president of IULTCS at the start of 2012, said that producing and trading leather was not enough to for the industry in Turkey to continue to develop. He said proficiency in technical and scientific matters was “also vital for prestige and respect among competitors”.

The next IULTCS Congress, the thirty-second, will take place in Istanbul in April 2013.
