28/03/2012
Specialty chemicals manufacturer Clariant held its annual general meeting in Basel on March 27, with 560 shareholders in attendance.

The company’s annual report and accounts for 2011 won approval. Two members of the board, chairman, Jürg Witmer, and Klaus Jenny, retired from the board; Rudolf Wehrli succeeded Jürg Witmer as chairman.

Chief executive, Hariolf Kottmann, confirmed the company’s expectations for 2012. Clariant expects that, after a weak start to the year, the global economy will progressively strengthen in the course of the year. Therefore, results for the first half-year are expected to be lower compared to the high base of the first half of 2011, with an improvement in the second half of 2012.
