Mexican presidential candidate invests in special leather jacket

Mr Caballero, who runs a boutique in the upmarket neighbourhood of Polanco, is originally from Colombia. He introduced bulletproof leather jackets to his range in 2009, offering high levels of design and using top-quality Italian leather. He said at the time that a typical jacket weighed 1.2 kilos and cost around $3,000.
In an interview with the BBC, broadcast on March 22, he explained that Mexico's wave of gun-related crime was a great worry to wealthy business figures and had boosted sales of his protective leather fashion wear to such an extent that he was now known as the Armani of the security business.
He said the jacket he has designed can prevent cartridges such as 9mm, .357 and .45 from injuring the wearer, and added that the jacket can even stop Uzi and MP5 submachine guns from having their intended effect. "We have many clients here," said Mr Caballero, "including politicians, governors and police force directors, as well as corporate presidents from big companies. We have to be careful to sell only to the right people and not to the bad people."
He confirmed that one of the politicians that have joined his client-list is among the main candidates for the presidential election.
